Steven Leo Alldredge

August 20, 1951 — February 22, 2013

Steven Leo Alldredge, 61 passed from this life on February 22, 2013 after a 14 month battle with leukemia. His wife Nell was lovingly by his side in their Delta home at the time of his passing. Steve was born August 20, 1951 to Junius Leo and Velma Bates Alldredge in Schenectady, New York. At the time of his birth Steve’s father had recently returned from World War II where he served as a Marine fighter pilot. He had then completed his education as a mechanical engineer, married Velma and settled into civilian and family life. Two years into their marriage, when Steve was one year old, his father was called back to the Marine Corps to train for flying jet aircraft. While serving his country in this capacity he was killed in a crash when Steve was 18 months old. Steve spoke often of never having a chance to know his father and looked forward to renewing that association. He had unshakable testimony in the gospel promise of eternal families.

Steve graduated from high school in Hughson, California and attended college at BYU Hawaii. He served a mission in the Eastern States Mission and has enjoyed a lifetime of church activity. One of Steve’s great passions was for family history. His knowledge and recall of names and stories of many generations of ancestors was phenomenal. It was while he and his mother were on a family history tour of the east coast that he first met Nell. They were married the next year on May 5 of 1989 in the Manti LDS Temple.

Most of Steve and Nell’s married life has been spent in Delta where they have enjoyed being a part of the community and Delta 1st Ward. Much kindness and help has been extended to them by these good people through the years.

Steve is survived by his wife: Nell Eleanor Lyman Alldredge; and his mother: Velma Alldredge of Hughson, California; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family would like to express gratitude to IHC Hospice and especially Shelly Anderson for their tender loving care through Steve’s illness and passing.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 27, at 11 am in the Delta 1st Ward Chapel. Viewing will be held Wednesday morning, 10-10:40 am, prior to the service. Burial will be in the Delta Cemetery under the direction of Nickle Mortuary.
