Nathan George Adams

September 28, 1947 — October 22, 2018

Nathan George Adams, age 71, went home to his eternal rest on October 22, 2018 in Mesa, Arizona. Nathan was born on September 28, 1947 in Delta, Utah; the oldest of the five children of Nathan Cameron and Norma Perry Adams. He had a lifelong love of learning. He grew up in Delta and graduated from Delta High School. Then served in the British Southwest LDS Mission among the people of England and Wales. He earned a scholarship to attend the University of Utah, earning his Bachelors Degree in Aerospace Engineering. Besides his studies, his attention was captured by Ann Marie McEwan. They were married on September 6, 1969 in the Manti LDS Temple.

Nathan continued his studies earning a Masters Degree from Auburn University. While in Alabama he also served as the LDS Branch President. He then continued his Aerospace Engineering PhD studies at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). He accepted a job offer from the Boeing Plant in Mesa, Arizona, working there for over 33 years. He was promoted to be a Technical Fellow and developed many patents from his research. He was a dedicated engineer. His greatest joy was mentoring new hires and training young minds. He taught 8 years at Mesa Community College. He enjoyed classical music. He loved learning, and through the years continued to enjoy taking college courses from Harvard on many subjects. He was a loving and dedicated husband and father to his seven children. He loved building model trains and shooting model rockets with his grandchildren. He had a wonderful spirit, and was especially kind to children. He was affectionately known as the “Gummy Bear Man” as he was always prepared to hand out a treat and a smile.

Nathan is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ann; children: Brad (Becky) Adams; Anjillia (Jay) Johnson; Bronwyn (Sterling) Smith; Aaron (Angie) Adams; Keridwyn Bailey; Devin Adams; Kailey (Kenneth) Cornelius; 26 grandchildren; sisters: Ruth Logan, Phyllis Patterson, Karen Capps; brother: David Adams. He was preceded in death by parents: Cameron and Norma Adams; grandson: Preston Smith.

Services will be held in his honor on November 3, 2018, at 10:00 am, at the LDS Chapel at 10036 E. Brown Road, Mesa, Arizona. Viewing at 9:00 am, prior to service.

A local Graveside Dedication Service will be held on November 10, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Delta City Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.nicklemortuary .com or www.bunkerfuneral.com
