Cathy Cook, age 60, passed through the veil on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 in her home in Delta, Utah with her family by her side, after fighting a courageous battle with breast cancer. Cathy, at no surprise to those that know her, was an extremely outgoing and devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Friend, and community member. She was born in Delta, Utah on May 9, 1958 and that is where she would spend the majority of her life.
She married Mont Jay Cook on August 2, 1980 in the Manti LDS Temple. They would continue to serve much of their life attending and working in the LDS Temples in Manti and Payson on a weekly basis. Her service in her local church included Young Womens, Primary, and Relief Society Presidencies.
Her contributions to the community, especially the school system, has been an area where many have come to know and feel of Cathy’s love of others and genuine interest in the success of those she worked with. From leading the local High School Dance Team, to owning a Dance company in the community, she taught the youth of Delta the qualities of hard work and dedication.
Cathy is survived by her husband of 38 years: Jay; and 5 children: Ashley (Shaun) Bryan -(grandkids) Hannah, Chloe, Izzy, Hallie, Hank; Whitney (James) Sukhan -(grandkids) Pippa, Emmett, Scout; Christian (Vanessa) Cook -(grandkids) Eavy, Ruby, Kai; Jacob (Nicole) Cook -(granddaughter) Addilyn; Maryn (Seth) Owens -(grandson) Graham; siblings: Geri Aldrich, Jean Edwards, Nancy Ercanbrack, Beth Whitaker, Debra Jensen, Dorene Johnson, and Tom Ashby. She is preceded in passing by her parents: Carl and Alta Rigby Ashby and sister: Susan Gardner.
She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 17, at 1:30 PM, in the Delta LDS Stake Center Chapel, 125 White Sage Ave, Delta. Two Viewings will be held at the Delta LDS Stake Center: Friday, 6:00-8:00 PM; and Saturday, 11:30-1:10 PM, prior to the service. Burial will be in the Sutherland Cemetery.
