Colleen Densley Banks

October 31, 1958 — February 7, 2020

Colleen Densley Banks, age 61, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 7, 2020 in Payson, Utah. She was born on October 31, 1958, the daughter of Lawrence Lynn and Margaret Anne Sheriff Densley, in Pamona, California.

After living in California for a short time her family returned to Utah, spending a few years in Ogden, then settling back to her roots in Oak City. She graduated from Delta High School and continued her education at Brigham Young University, earning her nursing degree in 1981. While attending BYU, she met the love of her life, Lynn Paul Banks. They were wed in the Manti LDS Temple on April 19, 1980. She worked her first nursing job at the hospital in American Fork for three years before she and her husband moved back to Oak City.

Upon returning to her hometown, she then worked at the hospital in Delta where she spent the remainder of her 35-year nursing career. In 2016, she retired and happily spent her free time doing temple service as an organist and ordinance worker, studying and sharing the gospel, and being the best Grammy that she could be to her six grandchildren. Even after retirement, her passion for nursing and caring for others continued on in service to those around her, whether it was her family, friends, or neighbors. Colleen had a love of reading books, journaling, music, and essential oils.

She is now reunited with her mother, father, and brother. She is now survived by her sweetheart of 40 years: Lynn P. Banks; her children: Paige Shelton, Kellie (Chris) Thayne, Adam (Amber) Banks, and Corinn (Adam) Sessions. She is remembered and loved greatly by her six and three-quarters grandchildren: Reagan Shelton; Wyatt and Brook Thayne; Camden, Brendan, Joslyn, and soon-to-arrive Jensen Sessions.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 13, at 11:00 am, at the Oak City LDS Chapel, 35 East Center Street. Viewings will be held at the Oak City LDS Church on Wednesday evening, 6:00-8:00 pm; and Thursday, 9:30-10:40 am, prior to the service. Burial will be in the Oak City Cemetery.
