Jimmie Layland, age 76, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and cherished friend to so many passed away on December 13, 2012 in Delta, Utah, with his family and friends by his side.
Jimmie was born on November 5, 1936 in Oakley, Wyoming. He was the third son of George Layland and Pearl Elizabeth Lee Layland.
He grew up and attended school in Ely, Nevada and Auburn, California. He spent his early years in parts of Idaho and Wyoming. He lived his later years in Callao and Delta, Utah.
He married Leah Lorraine Lewis Lee Layland. They later divorced. Leah had two sons from her previous marriage, Danny and Ricky Lee. Jimmy and Leah had three children, Bret (Dana) Layland, Lynne (Raymond) Anderson and Rae Jean Layland. He has four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and was Gramps to so many others. He is preceded in death by his son, Bret.
Through the years, Jimmy worked as a ranch hand. He did chimney repair, was a crane operator, truck driver, pig farmer, trapper and prospector.
He always enjoyed camping, prospecting for gold, spending time with his grandchildren and gathering with all the people who love him so.
A memorial is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
