Connie Jeanne Ingram Best, age 74, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 in Provo, Utah. She was born on May 6, 1946 in Payson, Utah to Blaine Mortensen and Iris Elizabeth Kay Ingram. Connie grew up in Nephi, until age 11 when she went to live with her grandparents on their farm in Mona. She graduated from Juab High School, and then attended Provo Technical School, studying the secretarial trade. She began her career in Salt Lake City, but after her grandfather’s passing, she returned to Nephi to help take care of her grandmother.
She met her sweetheart, Bud Robert Best, and they were married on November 16, 1968 in the Manti LDS Temple. They made their home, most of their life together, in Lynndyl, Utah. Connie loved her community and did her best dedicating much of her life to improving it and helping wherever she could. Connie had a spirit of organization and determination was a benefit those around her. She always threw her support behind the many community events. She was instrumental in establishing the Lynndyl Fire Department and obtaining equipment. She was a member of the Department, and although she didn’t fight the fires, she made sure the station fridge was stocked, the documents were kept in order and the volunteers knew they were appreciated. She helped to establish and was part of the Lynndyl CERT unit. She served many years on the Town Council, and even served as the Mayor. Her service also extended to other communities where she spent many years helping out at the Delta Food Bank. In 2013 she was honored by the Utah Governor with a Silver Bowl recognizing her long record of volunteer work.
Connie was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many callings including those in the Relief Society Presidency and Compassionate Service Coordinator. Connie, above all, loved her family. The delicious fudge that she would make every year to celebrate the holidays and her cheerful spirit, will be deeply missed in the coming days. We love you Mom.
Connie is survived by her sons: Justin and Benjamin Best of Lynndyl; daughter: Nikki (Gerald) Robison of Fillmore; siblings: Kaye (Verl) Wilkey, Steve (Pat) Ingram, and Guy Ingram, all of Nephi; Lynn (Shannon) Ingram of Mona. She was preceded in death by her husband: Bud (passing on November 1, 2017); and her parents.
Her family encourages donations to your local Food Bank or other preferred charity as a way of honoring Connie’s generous and giving spirit.
