Tanya Jeanne Robinett

August 19, 1955 — December 29, 2012

Tanya Jeanne Robinett, beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend passed away December  29,  2012 in Delta, Utah at age 57. Tanya started life as a foundling on the steps of a church in Denver, Colorado. She was adopted by Everett and Rowena Robinett at the age of six months. She and a younger brother spent a joyous childhood growing up in Dove Creek, Colorado.

Tanya graduated from San Juan High in Blanding, Utah. She chose to follow her mother’s example and became a teacher. She graduated from Western State College with a degree in Elementary Education. Tanya started her teaching career in La Sal, Utah and then found herself in Monticello, Utah; Montezuma Creek, Utah; Mancos, Colorado; Cortez, Colorado and finally in Delta, Utah where she taught twenty years of a 28 year career. She loved teaching 3rd graders.

Upon retirement she went back to Dove Creek and was able to spend the next four years being a daughter and companion to her mother. Being closer to her immediate family also brought her much pleasure.

Cancer became her enemy and after an eight week battle she finally succumbed.

She is survived by her mother: Rowena Robinett of Dove Creek, Colorado; brother: Duane (Shawna Sparks) Robinett of Dove Creek, Colorado; niece: Stevie Robinett of Vernal, Utah; nephews: Darrell (Elizabeth) Robinett, Cortez, Colorado; Clayton (Maegan) Robinett Dove Creek, Colorado; great-nieces: O’ryah, Justys, Serenity, and Journey Ranessa  Raejeanne; great-nephew: Xayvier; aunt: Ogrita Vinger of Dove Creek, Colorado; cousin: Jackie (Bob Kimlin) Vinger of Dove Creek, Colorado; life long friend: Esther Duncan of Delta, Utah. Preceded in death by father: Everett Jasper Robinett and nephew: Brandon Robinett.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 3, from 7 to 8 PM, at the Nickle Mortuary in Delta, Utah. A Funeral service will be held in Dove Creek, Colorado on January 5, at 2:00 PM at the Baptist church, 330 North Main St. A viewing will begin at 1 PM, prior to the service. Burial will be in the Dove Creek Cemetery.
