Velora Dawn Kelly Moody Anderson, age 85, of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully in hospice care on December 28, 2012. Velora Dawn Kelly was born in Oasis, Utah on March 22, 1927, to Oscar Virgil and Inez Ivy Thompson Kelly. Dawn married Venor Moody in 1944 and settled in Delta, Utah after the war, where they had three children - Michael, Charalyn and Patricia Jo. A Las Vegas resident since 1956, Dawn retired from the Culinary Union after 35 years, including several years as the pony-tailed carhop at Sills Drive-In (later the Tip Top). Following a divorce, she married Joseph W. Anderson in 1963, and they were together until his death in 1997. She also was preceded in death by her daughters: Charalyn and Patty Jo. Dawn is survived by her brother: Ladd Kelly; sister: Ann Cropper (Dick); son: Michael Moody (Ann); stepsons: Robbie, Randy and Andy Anderson; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 4, at 3:00 PM, at the Deseret-Oasis Ward LDS Chapel. A viewing will be held at the church at 1:30 PM, prior to the service. Dawn will be laid to rest with family members at the Oasis Cemetery.
