Anthony “Tony” Fielding Lake, age 84, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021 in Delta, Utah. Tony was born on November 8, 1936 in Ogden, Utah; the eldest of four children born to Sara Elinor Lake. As a young boy he was adopted by his grandparents, Benjamin Franklin and Francis Ballantyne Lake, and moved to Hurricane. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent a lot of time on his motorcycle hunting deer to feed the family. One of the most special events that would change his life was the afternoon he saw his best friend, LeRoy Brenay's, kid sister sitting on the porch. She captivated his attention and pretty soon, it wasn’t LeRoy that Tony was stopping by the Brenay house to see. A little later on February 4, 1956, he married the love of his life, Joan Carol Brenay, in Kingman, Arizona. They were later sealed in the St. George LDS Temple on June 12, 1964.
They made their home in Redondo Beach, California. Tony loved Scuba Diving and was certified as an instructor. He enjoyed hunting Abalone off the shores of Catalina and his family share many wonderful dinners made with Moray Eel. He enlisted in the US Army Reserve and spent his time in Georgia serving as a mechanic. After an honorable discharge, he made a new home for his family in La Mirada, California. He served some years as an apprentice carpet layer and after a few years was ready to start his own business. He ran a successful carpet laying business and trained many of hs relatives, giving them a skill trade. After a few years was given the job of managing the flooring needs for the Garden Grove Unified School District. He retired in 2005, and moved to Deseret, Utah. He was very grateful for the many friends he has made in the community.
Tony was skilled in many things. He studied sleight of magic and performed at the Magic Castle in Los Angeles. He loved associating with and making many friends in the magic community. He served a term as President of the International Guild of Prestidigitators ( the IGP ). He was an inventor and was able to sell some of his creations to industry. He enjoyed working with his ham radio. Tony loved to eat. He was always skinny, but his friends and family were often amazed by his enormous appetite. He loved to find new recipes to try and share them with friends. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time at the ocean, and most of all - spending time with his family.
Tony is survived by his children: Robert Lake of Deseret; Richard Lake of Pleasant Grove; Tonia Lake of Lehi; brother: Burt Sant of Hurricane; sister: Sharri Fife of St. George. He was preceded in death by his wife: Joan; and brother: Frank Fife.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, October 16, at 11:00 am, at the Deseret-Oasis LDS Chapel. Burial with Military Rites will follow at the Deseret Cemetery.
