Joyce Kay Wetterich Peterson, age 58, passed away on September 21, 2021 in Grand Junction, Colorado. She was born on July 21, 1963 in Delta, Colorado, the third of the 5 children born to John Clinton Wetterich and Barbara Nell Scott Taylor. She was a hard worker and very devoted to supporting her family. She began working as a waitress for Tops City Café, and later as a cook for The Rancher. While working as a waitress she met the love of her life, Keith Peterson. It was almost love at first sight. Their first date was on July 12, and they were married only a month later on August 15, 1981 in Delta. Together they had 5 children. One son and four daughters.

Joyce loved to have fun and laugh. She was an amazing cook and very skilled at crafts and working with her hands.

Joyce is survived by her children: Derrick (Chelsea) Peterson, Lonna Peterson, Shanna (Eric) Wolfe and Lacie (Barret Ashcraft) Peterson; 9 grandchildren: Bryan (Lissandra) Peterson, Sensemillia (Nathaniel) Ybarra, Kahlan Cason, JD Stokes, Kaylee Stokes, Derrick Peterson, Kashley Peterson, Nevaeh Ashcraft, Hailey Ashcraft; great-grandchildren: Julian, Aracely, Azeneth and Ezequiel Antencio; sisters: Deanna, Iris, and Terry; brother: Jason. She was preceded in death by her husband: Keith; daughter: Brandie Leigh; and her mom and dad.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 2, at 11:30 am, at the Nickle Mortuary. A Viewing will be held 10:00-11:10 am, prior to the service. Burial will be in the Hinckley Cemetery.
