Ione Hilton Christensen, age 92, of Hinckley, passed away in Delta, Utah, on Wednesday, December 29, 2021. Ione was born on August 6,1929 on a farm southwest of Delta to Roy Parker and Fannie Lee Cropper Hilton. She enjoyed growing up with her three older brothers and one younger sister.
Ione graduated from Hinckley High School in 1947, after which she attended BYU where she studied Food and Nutrition with religion and music as minors. Ione married James William Christensen on September 5, 1950 in the Manti Temple. They were blessed with four sons and a little daughter who lived only one day. The family enjoyed many hunting, fishing, and camping trips together. Ione and Jim had been married for sixty-four years when Jim passed away on May 6, 2015.
Ione served faithfully in various callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints throughout her life. She was an excellent singer and used her talent to bless those around her. She also enjoyed gardening, watching sports - especially basketball, and visiting with her family. Ione was kind, steadfast, optimistic, hardworking, and a great example. Her family was her pride and joy. She could always tell you details from the lives of each member of her family. She served as an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She will be greatly missed by all her friends and family.
Ione is survived by her four sons: Jim (Julie), Rick (Victoria), Garry (Janet), Steve (Carla); sister: Lula Henriksen; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way. Preceded in death by her husband: James William Christensen; daughter: Becky Lynn Christensen; grandson; Kurt Lovell Christensen; brothers: Ross, Lawrence, and Harlan.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 7, at 11:00 a.m. in the Delta West Stake Center, 188 North Main St in Hinckley. A Viewing will be held 9:30-10:40 a.m. prior to the service.
