Glen Losee, age 94, passed away April 13, 2013 in Delta, Utah. Glen was born December 8, 1918 in Sugarville, Utah to Isaac Huff and Roxie Ann Young Losee. His mother always said he was born on the 9th and was the fifth child in a family of eleven children. He attended Sugarville and Sutherland Elementary Schools, Delta Junior High and graduated from Delta High School with the class of 1937.
He was a farmer all of his life, but also earned a retirement from the Union Pacific Railroad after working on the tracks for over twenty years. He also learned to repair radios, TVs, watches and clocks.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served in many positions. He helped to build the Sugarville Chapel which he and his family attended until the ward was moved to Sutherland.
Glen married Naoma Ruth Abbott on September 16, 1940 in Provo, Utah. They made their home in Sugarville where their sons Lynn and Lane were born. Glen was drafted into the Army and was fighting in Europe under General Patton when he received word that his son Dean had been born. He was wounded February 1945 for which he received a “Purple Heart” and was awarded a Silver Star for gallantry in action.
After the war Glen returned to his family and farm. Glen and Ruth added three daughters to their family, Linda, Donna and Annette. He was very proud of his children and very supportive of them.
Glen loved to hunt arrowheads and do prospecting on the West desert. He could fix about anything you put in front of him. He was a man of great integrity. He was loved and admired by his wonderful and numerous posterity. They loved to visit the farm, ride the tractor, and explore the old buildings and looked forward to the yearly gathering at the “hard pan”.
In 1994 Glen and Ruth moved to Delta where they enjoyed new friends and neighbors, but made almost daily trips back to Sugarville.
After Ruth passed away on October 19, 1999, Glen continued to live in his home as independent as he could, for thirteen years. For his last nine months he was tenderly and compassionately cared for at the Millard Care and Rehabilitation Center, for which his family expresses their heart-felt appreciation. They express their thanks to Dr Shamo and those who continued to visit and care for Glen. We Will Miss Him.
Glen is survived by sons and daughters: Lynn (Rosalyn) Losee, Lane (Carolyn) Losee, Dean (Karen) Losee, Linda Palmer, Donna (David) Rowlette, Annette (Kevin) Kirkland; 36 grandchildren, 106 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son-in-law Steve Palmer; 3 great grandchildren, brothers and sisters: Roy, Ralph, Eugene, Cecil, Ted, Ned, Virgil, Hilda, Ila, Allie Mae.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 20, at 11:00 AM at the Delta 5th Ward LDS Chapel. Viewings will be held Friday evening at the Nickle Mortuary, 6:30-8:00 PM; and Saturday morning at the church, 9:30-10:40 AM. Burial will be in the Delta City Cemetery.
