John Shelby Nielson, age 66, passed awaon on Tuesday, Jue 21, 2022 at his home in Leamington, Utah. He was born on January 21, 1956 in Delta, Utah to Grant and Louise Nielson. He grew up on the family farm in Leamington, Utah. He loved the land and learned how to work it by the side of his father, and along with his siblings. At a young age he began raising his own pigs for FFA projects. Along with that he learned how to farm, raise cows, and be successful in many other activities involved in a family ranching business. He married Carol Farnes in the Manti Temple on March 22, 1978 (later divorced), and together they raised four sons. For many years, John was a member of the Utah National Cattlemen’s Association. He held different offices and won awards for his hard work and involvement with the cattlemen.
John is preceded in death by his mother: Louise Skidmore Nielson. He is survived by his father: Grant S Nielson; sons: JD (Felicia), Devon (Stacey), Blake (Annie) and Shelby (Alice) Nielson; siblings: Karl (Kathy), Chris (Cliff) Wilson, Bryan (Kyle), Ron, Dave (Lorna); and 12 grandchildren.
