James Marion Meinburg

December 31, 1937 — July 11, 2022

James Marion Meinburg, age 84, passed away on July 11, 2022 in Delta, Utah. Born December 31, 1937 in Huntington Park, California to Robert James and Ruth Dillenbeck Meinburg. His mother passed away when he was 12 years old. His father later married Dorma Andersen, and he was blessed to have two more brothers join his family.

His Dillenbeck grandparents brought him to their home in Hinckley after his mother passed, to help raise him. They ran the Delta Happy Service grocery store, currently the site of Jubilee; and that started him on his career path in grocery management. He attended Hinckley High School until it was closed, and then graduated from Delta High School. Attended college in Cedar City, then returned to Delta to continue working at the store. While working in Produce, he was able to present a very cute girl working in the office, with gifts of fresh fruit everyday. That led to his marriage to the love of his life, Melva Dorene Shields. Jim and Dorene were married on August 18, 1958 in Sugarville, Utah. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple exactly 12 years later.

In 1961, he was drafted into the US Army and was stationed at Fort Ord, California. After being discharged, he moved to Granger, Utah and started working for Associated Foods. First just unloading Jell-o from the train, but he moved all the way up to be Warehouse Department Head. He touched many loves along the way until he retired in 1999.

From the time he was a young boy, Jim enjoyed scouting. An Eagle Scout, and spent 42 years in the program, especially the Cub Scouts, inspiring other young men. In recognition of his service, he was awarded the Silver Beaver.

Jim enjoyed doing things with his many friends. Joined a Motorcycle Club, and also started a Gun Club. When he moved back to Delta in 2000, took pride in being part of the American Legion Post. Also did his part serving as sexton of the Hinckley Cemetery.  Enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and bowling. During the evenings, he could almost always be found watching the news while eating a huge bowl of ice cream. His kids never understand how he kept his trim figure. Above all, Jim will be remembered for his friendly spirt and being one of the nicest men you could meet.

Survived by his wife: Dorene Meinburg; daughter: Jaymi (Ken) Kohl; sons: Travis (Kerri) Meinburg; Dustin (Meagan) Meinburg; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; brothers: Dennis and Larry Meinburg.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 15, at 11:00am, at the Hinckley LDS Chapel, 188 N Main St. Viewings: Thursday, 6:30-8:00pm, at the Nickle Mortuary; and 9:30-10:40am, prior to service.
