Raymond Lee Tapp

May 12, 1934 — January 27, 2023

Raymond Lee Tapp, age 88, passed away on January 27, 2023, in Delta, Utah. He was born on May 12, 1934 in Midvale, Utah, to Raymond Stephen and Nettie Hansen Tapp. He married Phyllis Moffett, and they had three beloved daughters together: Lynn Marie, Vicki, and Lisa. They later divorced.

During his younger years, he worked for Kennecott Copper at the EIMCO Foundry until he retired from his career in ore refining. He was an avid fly fisherman along the Provo River, and loved riding his Honda 350 motorcycle and often as he could.

Later, Lee came to Delta, Utah and worked as a security guard during the construction of IPSC. During this time, he gained a deep fondness for the Delta area. He lived at the Diamond D Inn for over 20 years making many friends among the residents. He became a huge supporter of Delta High School. He attended all the sporting events and plays that he could, deeply enjoying his interactions with the people in the community.

Lee enjoyed long walks out in the sunshine. He spent many hours over the years, walking all over the roadways of Delta and the surrounding area. As you drive around, if you notice bottles turned upside down on fence posts or stuck into anthills, that is the product of Lee’s long walks. He wanted others to be aware that they should not inconsiderately throw their garbage out on the roadside. He loved looking for rocks. Lots of rocks. He would glue them together and make many objects of art and hang them up.

In recent years, Lee’s health required him to move to Taylorsville, but he continued to long to return to Delta. He was recently able to  come back to Millard Care and Rehab for the final days of his life. He will be greatly missed.

Lee is survived by his brother: Verl Tapp; sisters: Jeannette Mullins and Marie McKee; daughters: Lynn Marie Tapp, Vicki Davis and Lisa Tapp; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
