William "Bill" Lamont Glover, Jr.

William "Bill" Lamont Glover, Jr., 88, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Sandstone Pioneer Trails Nursing home. Bill was born on October 19, 1935 in Ogden, Utah, the son of William Lamont Glover and Rachel Sylvia Petersen.  He graduated from Box Elder High School, served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in England, and graduated from Utah State University.  It was in college where he met his sweetheart, Dorothy Ann Wedding. They were married on July 22, 1960 in the Logan, Utah Temple.

Bill then started his military career in Fort Sill Oklahoma where he graduated from the Officers Candidate School.  He served with the Army and received his captain's commission in 1966.  Bill was then called to active duty in 1967 where he served in Vietnam.

Captain Glover was awarded the Air Medal by the direction of President Nixon:  "During the period of June 1968 to August 1968, he actively participated in more than twenty-five aerial missions over hostile enemy territory."  He also received the following decorations/commendations:  National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Bronze Star Medal.

After Bill retired from the army, he worked at Beneficial Life as an insurance consultant. He was a faithful member of the Brigham City First Ward, where he served as the high priest group leader and various other callings.

He loved supporting his family in their various activities from dance recitals to basketball games.  His passion was golfing and he could be found on the course several times a week.  He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Glover; and his five children:  Debbie (Gary) Williams, Brigham City; Lisa (Craig) Dresser, Fargo, ND; Michelle (Corbin) Weller, Murray; Russell (Jen) Glover, Syracuse; Michael (Trystin) Glover, Clearfield; 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters:  Eleanor Meacham and Janis Erickson; and a great grandchild, Grace Debbie Winchester.

The family thanks the staff at Sandstone Pioneer Trails nursing home and Bristol Hospice for the love and support they have shown over the past two months.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 13, at 1:30 PM, at the Brigham City 1st Ward Chapel, 236 East 100 South. A Viewing will be held Monday, 12:00-1:10 pm, prior to service.  Those unable to attend are invited to view the recorded video of the service . Interment with military rites to follow at the Brigham City Cemetery.
