Sheila Marie Diaz

July 7, 1959 — November 30, 2023

Sheila Marie Diaz, age 64, passed away on October 30, 2023 at her home in Delta, Utah after fighting a valiant battle cancer. She was born on July 7, 1959 in San José, California, the fourth of six children born William Richard and Johnnie Irene Harden Diaz. She grew up in San José and graduated from Andrew P. Hill High School. She made a life with Gary Muñoz, and they had one son together, William Richard Diaz, Jr. Sheila and Gary eventually separated. In the mid 1980's, Sheila moved to Delta along with her mother. The friends she found in the Delta Community became an important part of her life. Over the years, she worked at Delta Jubilee, Delta Freeze and Delta Maverik. She was friendly and interested in meeting the many people that crossed her path. She was bubbly and loved a good laugh. She really enjoyed jokes; corny ones and dirty ones and everything in between, anything that could give her a smile or a chuckle welcome. Sheila also loved animals, and gave years of devoted attention to her cats and dog.

Sheila was kind to people. After her mother passed away in 2007, Sheila’s friends became her family. She deeply appreciated all of the kindnesses they gave. The members of the community that looked after her, were often referred to as her ‘Angels’. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2021, and was blessed by the several individuals that helped take care of her through her illness. For that, Sheila is eternally grateful.

Sheila is survived by her son: William Diaz, Jr.; brother: Randy Diaz; sister: Julie Ponder; brother: Jim Ponder; many grandchildren, nieces and nephews; also her beloved dog: Princess and many cats. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Richard and Mike Diaz.

Sheila will be buried beside her mother, in the Oak Hills Cemetery in San José, California. Condolences may be left at www.nicklemortuary.com
