Lana Ruth Dunlop Meinhardt

June 19, 1940 — June 21, 2024

Lana Ruth Dunlop Meinhardt, age 84, passed away June 21, 2024 in her home surrounded by those she loved. She was born June 19, 1940, in Salt Lake City Utah to Joseph William and Ruth Williams Dunlop. She was raised by loving parents in Salt Lake City and was the oldest of her four siblings of whom she loved dearly. She later attended beauty school and was able to obtain her cosmetologist license.

She married Harold “Doc” Harry Meinhardt on August 24, 1963, in Ely, Nevada. Together they bought their first farm home in Woodrow, Utah and raised their combined family. Lana took great pride in being a mother and homemaker. On their farm together, Lana and Harold taught their boys the value of hard work. She took great pleasure in camping and hunting with her family. She made sure that even when she needed a break from the boys and stayed home, she sent her famous lasagna and pies. Feeding her family was her love language and she always made sure everyone she cared for left with a full stomach. While raising her children she continued that passion and worked as a dedicated and loving lunch lady for 23 years. She was a woman of many talents such as crocheting, quilting, scrapbooking, crafting, and her love of gardening. She was an avid gardener and could grow any vegetable or flower her heart desired. But her greatest joy was always found in her grandchildren. She was a grandma at heart and found her life calling as a “Grandma” to many. She always was the fun grandma and loved bending the rules just a little to keep things fun.

She continued to work with those she loved being a substitute teacher throughout many years. She also served in many capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She held several callings such as scouting, primary, young women’s, pianist, and compassionate service leader. She loved her Savior and devoted her time and talents throughout her whole life. Later in life she and her husband retired and built their beautiful home in Oak City where she loved living close to her family. She spent the later years of her life making her yard and home beautiful. You could always find her cheering on her beloved Utah Jazz, and you rarely caught her without a cold Diet Coke in hand. Lana was a very dedicated mother, wife, and grandmother throughout all the days of her life and will be missed by each and every one of those lives she touched.

Lana is survived by her children: Deborah Taylor Fillmore, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Jeff (Stephanie) Meinhardt, Parowan, Utah; Keith (Gail) Meinhardt, Oak City, Utah; Sam (Laura) Meinhardt, Glenrock, Wyoming; and Joel Meinhardt; Layton, Utah; daughter-in-law: Carol Meinhardt, Sutherland, Utah; 20 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; step-children: Cary Meinhardt, JoAnn Meinhardt, and David Meinhardt.
