Charlotte Nicol Hills, at 87 years of age, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2024, in Orem, Utah. She was born in Heber, Utah on September 1, 1936, to Ned and Doris Lanor Burgener Nicol. She loved her siblings: Larry, Julie and Herald and enjoyed traveling with them later in her life. She spent most of her life in Orem, Utah where she graduated from Lincoln High School, then graduated from Henninger’s Business College. Married her high school sweetheart, Ed D Hills, on November 17, 1953, and they were sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Together Ed and Charlotte had 6 children. They were married for 65 years, and family members referred to them as “The Velcro Buddies” because they did everything together. We are grateful she is reunited with Ed and their daughter, LuAnn, who passed away 38 years ago.
Charlotte is survived by her children: Jay D. (Rhonda) Hills, Logandale, Nevada; Dal N. (Brenda) Hills, Midway, Utah; Jenilyn (Rick) Bishop, Delta, Utah; Melody (Shane) Draper, Elko, Nevada, and Ed W. (Lara) Hills, St. George, Utah; 31 grandchildren and 57 great grandchildren.
Ed and Charlotte served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2006 at Heber Valley Girls Camp. Charlotte was always very active in the church and faithfully served in many callings. Loved boating with her family, especially at Lake Powell. Loved to travel and was able to visit most of the United States. Also traveled to many other countries and loved learning about many different cultures. When she was not boating or traveling, she was quilting. Her quilts were masterpieces as she was so patient and took her time to make very small and perfect stitches. Charlotte loved her family and she and Ed always supported their children and grandchildren. They had a special sense when it came to family and always knew who needed their help. They had a way making all their posterity feel as if they were their favorite.
Her husband Ed preceded her in death on June 17, 2019. This was an adjustment for her, but she was positive and stayed active. In December of 2022, she was fortunate to marry Mark Farrer who had been a lifelong friend. They were married for only year and a half, but she really enjoyed her time with him. Mark has become an important part of Charlotte’s family and we all love him.
When asked how she would like to be remembered she would say “I would like to be remembered by my family, friends and of course, by the Lord as A Righteous Woman in Zion.”
