Cloy Don Broderick, age 91, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025 in Millcreek, Utah. Don was born on April 14, 1933, to Cloy Leonard and Anna Saretta Mortensen Broderick in Delta, Utah. He grew up to be an exceptional individual. He was an above-average student, a talented quarterback on his high school football team, and attended BYU until his sense of duty led him to serve in the US Navy during the Korean War. He worked bravely aboard the USS Hornet aircraft carrier and even had the thrilling experience of flying a plane—once!
Don’s life was marked by his infectious sense of humor and his unwavering love for his family. In 1953, he married Joyce Marie Nunes, and together they built a life in Northern California. Don was a dedicated engineer for the telephone company and a passionate teacher of trigonometry and calculus. He truly loved his work and touched the lives of many through his career and teaching.
Don and Joyce raised two wonderful daughters, Jodi and Wendy. Years later, Don returned to Utah, where he found love again and married GuoLi Wu on November 8, 1999. He embraced his new family, including GuoLi’s daughter, Weina, and granddaughter, Yali, with open arms and a generous heart.
Don is survived by his loving wife: GuoLi; his daughters: Jodi (John) Howe, Wendy Broderick (Rich), and Weina Wu; his grandchildren: Carl, Melissa, Briana, Sean, and Yali; his brothers: Glen Reid and Dennis; and countless nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and extended family members who cherished him dearly.
Graveside Services with military rites will be held on Saturday, March 22, at 11:00 am, at the Hinckley Cemetery.
