Bryant Robert Whicker

February 3, 1940 — September 2, 2013

Bryant Robert “Bob” Whicker, age 73, passed away from this life on Monday, September 2, 2013, surrounded by his family at the Central Valley Medical Center, in Nephi, Utah. Robert was born February 3, 1940 to Robert Cleo and Frances Larsen Whicker, in Delta, Utah. Having lived all of his life in Delta, Bob had many people who loved and cared for him. Bob’s best friends were the numerous dogs he had throughout his lifetime. He loved to build and was constantly in the backyard creating something wonderful. His greatest creation was his “summer home” which was large enough to house a bed, overstuffed chair, refrigerator and his music! With his dog at his side, Bob spent many happy hours in his “summer home.” At long last, he was a property owner.

Bob was an active member of the LDS Church and proudly served as a Service Missionary for the Deseret Industries in Delta, a calling of which he extremely proud. He would joyfully wear his missionary name tag on his shirt.  Bob attended Delta Elementary and spent a couple of years with his “favorite” teacher, Reece Finlinson, who remained a lifelong friend. He spent many years doing custodial services at Delta High School and the community jail. Bob spent many years riding the bus to Nephi where he worked in the Training Center with many of his good friends. Wherever Bob went, someone always knew who he was and asked how he was doing. He had an outgoing personality and found great joy in talking with people. He had a most-loving, kind heart and always looked for ways to lessen trials for others.

He is survived by his siblings: Mava (Alan) Mayfield of Layton, Utah; Dennis Russell (Kathy) Whicker of West Jordan, Utah;  Jo Ann (Ron) Nielson of Salt Lake City, Utah; Julie (Phil) Finlinson of Oak City, Utah. His aunt: Pearl Nelson, of Rose Park, Utah; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to express appreciation to the Millard Care & Rehabilitation Center, for the patient, loving care they have provided to Bob for many years. (We hope you find a new “boss” soon!”)  We extend our appreciation to Dr. Steven Shamo and Physical Therapist, Howard Quackenbush for their many hours of service, as well as to the people of the Delta 3rd Ward. A special thank you to the wonderful doctors. and nurses who lovingly cared for him during his stay at the Central Valley Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Delta 3rd Ward LDS Chapel located at 197 South 300 West, Delta, Utah. Viewings will be held Thursday evening at the Nickle Mortuary, 7:00-8:00 PM; and Friday morning at the church, 9:30-10:40 AM before the service. Burial will be in the Delta City Cemetery.

With tearful eyes and grateful hearts, we bid our brother, Bob, a fond farewell. Once again, he is in the arms of his beloved Mother and Father! What joy for him! And, most assuredly, he has heard our precious Savior proclaim, “Well done thou good and faithful servant!”
