James “Jim” Dale Lindsey III, age 76, passed away on June 5, 2024 in his home in Lynndyl, Utah. Jim was born on April 5, 1948 in Vallejo, California to James Dale Lindsey Jr. and Ann Loraine Dobson Lindsey. He grew up with his brother, Stephen, and sister, Cherie. After graduating high school, he joined the Army National Guard in California in 1967. Soon after, he moved to Wyoming, but continued to serve in the National Guard for another 10 years. He served in units in Wyoming, Colorado, and San Francisco. He was honorable discharged after years of dedicated service in 1977.
While in Wyoming, he served as a firefighter. He got married and had three children: Candy, James and Shannon; but he was later divorced. He also made many friends in the native american community. He gained a passion for their culture and adopted many of the native american beliefs and philosophies. In the late 1970s, he moved to Salt Lake City and began working as a security guard for Allegiant Security. During this time, he met the love of his life, Dorothy “Dotti” Inez Nielson. They decided they wanted share their lives together. After Jim retired, he moved to Lynndyl, Utah to be with Dotti. Because of his history as a firefighter, he got involved with the Lynndyl Volunteer Fire Department. He was honored to serve as the Fire Chief and was very instrumental in the development of Lynndyl’s new Fire Station.
Jim loved becoming a part of Dotti’s family. They made a wonderful couple and loved the time they spent together. He enjoyed attending many car shows with his step kids. He loved to go fishing with his grandsons. He was a dedicated fan of Denver Broncos Football and Utah Jazz Basketball. He was also honored to be a part of American Legion Post #135. He would attend as many patriotic tributes as he could, and deeply appreciated the friends he made among his Legion brothers.
During the last three years he has fought a valiant struggle against pancreatic cancer. He has been so grateful for the ever-present support of his family and friends in the community.
Jim is preceded in death by the love of his life: Dorothy “Dotti”, who passed away November 22, 2023. He is survived by his children: Candy (Mike) Trasker; James (Janna) Dale Lindsey IV; Shannon Lindsey; step-children: Blaine (Michelle) Bosshardt; Bonnie (David) Frandsen; Becky (Brian) Brower; Brian (Brooke) Bosshardt; Brad Bosshardt; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Celebration of his Life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 1:00 - 3:00 pm, at the Lynndyl Fire Station, 90 East Center Street. Burial with Military Rites will follow at the Lynndyl Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.nicklemortuary.com
