William Lee Stringer

William Lee Stringer, age 72, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014 in Salt Lake City, Utah.  He was born November 29, 1941 in Lowell, Arizona to Benjamin Harrison and Hannah Noreen Nelson Stringer. He married Rebecca Lou Rogers on December 3, 1962 in Kansas City, Missouri. The marriage was solemnized in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple on March 5, 1965.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He showed his strong faith through his dedication to his callings and missionary service. He had a passion for the Book of Mormon, and listening to the inspired words and music of the church. He enjoyed gardening, and tinkering with items around the home. He was a devoted father and husband who was known for his great patience and soft spoken mannerisms.

He grew up in Arkansas and, as a youth, enjoyed hunting and fishing. While living in Delta, he worked for Intermountain Power Service Corporation as a heavy equipment diesel mechanic.  He contracted Parkinson’s disease in the late 1990’s, which resulted in him spending the last years of his life in a nursing home. Those who knew him and those who cared for him, can attest that he was true to himself to the end and continued in patience never complaining about his condition or the trials that Parkinson’s presented to him.

He is survived by his loving wife: Rebecca; sisters: Lydia and Hannah; brother: Wesley; children: Patricia (Robert), Teresa, Cynthia, Debra, William (Jennifer), Dean (Erdenechimeg), Olive (Travis); 22 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by daughter: Rachel; parents: Benjamin and Hannah; brothers: Joseph and Charles; and sisters: Elizabeth, Mary, and Margaret.

Funeral services will be in held on Wednesday, May 28, at 11:00 am at the Sutherland LDS Chapel, 2620 North 3000 West, Delta. Viewings will be held on Tuesday evening, 7-8 pm, at the Nickle Mortuary, 190 South Center St, Delta; and Wednesday prior to the service, 9:30-10:40 am. Burial will be in the Oasis Cemetery.
