Daniel Dean Anderson

Our beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Friend, Daniel Dean Anderson, passed away March 1, 2016 in Murray, UT from complications of the H1N1 virus. He was 57.

Daniel was born May 5, 1958 in Fillmore, UT to Dean Eldon and Aneita June Harvey Anderson. Daniel was raised on a farm and ranch and learned from an early age to work hard and help provide for the family. Daniel attended schools in Oak City and Delta and graduated from Delta High School in 1976. He was a successful missionary in the Quito and Guayaquil Ecuador missions from 1977-1979. He graduated from BYU in Agricultural Economics in 1983.

Daniel married Sherilyn Tilley on August 17, 1982 in the Jordan River LDS Temple. He and Sherilyn returned home to Oak City to farm and ranch in 1983. Together they raised four children. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher and found great enjoyment and satisfaction in caring for the land and livestock. He was a good steward. His motto was “leave it better when entrusted to your care than when you received it.”

Daniel was very active with civic responsibilities. Some of which included serving on the Millard County School Board, Western Ag Credit Board, Farm Bureau, and the Farm Service Agency. The greatest blessing he received while serving in these capacities was the cherished friendships that he was able to form.

Daniel was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities. Some of which include Bishop, YSA Branch President, Young Mens President, Ward Mission Leader, faithful Home Teacher and many others. He enjoyed working with the youth of the church and many have been influenced for good by him. He enjoyed attending the temple often with his wife and family. He loved the Lord, his family, and those around him. He and Sherilyn instilled in their posterity the love of the gospel and service to others by the way they lived. The world is a better place for his having lived in it. He will be greatly missed.

Daniel is survived by his wife: Sherilyn; children: Matthew (Corinne), Oak City; McKay (Dani), Rexburg, ID; Michelle, Murray; Mason, Oak City; brothers: Gordon (Jackie), Ardean (Janet), Bruce (Sharla); 7 grandchildren.

Funeral: Saturday, March 5, at 11 a.m., at the Oak City LDS Chapel, 35 East Center St. Viewings: Friday evening, 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Oak City LDS Church; and Saturday morning, 9:00-10:30 a.m., prior to services. Burial in the Oak City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the General Missionary Fund.

The family wishes to express gratitude for the medical staff at the Delta Hospital and the Intermountain Medical Center, Shock Trauma Unit, for their excellent care and support.
