Carma Ashby Swensen, age 82, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017 at her home in Hinckley, Utah. She was born in Murray, Utah on March 25, 1935 to Charles Prosser and Elenor Lucile Jensen Ashby. She grew up in Sandy. Later moved to Delta, Utah and graduated from Delta High School, then attended BYU. She married the love of her life, Neal Swensen on May 6, 1955 in the Manti LDS Temple. They first made their home in Hinckley, Utah, then moved to Cresent in the early 1960's. Together they worked side by side on many projects. After Neal retired in the early 1990's, they returned to Hinckley.

Never having any girls, her husband and her 7 boys were the light of her life. She was their biggest cheerleader on the sidelines, never missing a game. Carma was very talented, making homemade quilts that were presented to every grandchild at birth. From pillowcases handed down three generations, she made pillow case dresses. She won blue ribbons at the local fair for her handmade quilts. She loved to camp, ride ATV’s, campfires, gardening, journaling, card embroidery and dancing.

In Cresent and Delta areas, she organized classes for the Special Olympics through the church’s Mutual program. She worked as the Secretary at Cresent Elementary, and for the Jordan District, and she also worked as a real estate agent.

She served three times as Relief Society President, Young Women’s President, Primary, and worked at the South Jordan LDS Temple. Served a mission with Neal at Cove Fort, and also worked in LDS Custodial program to support their sons on missions. Neal and Carma also worked as Sextons at the Deseret and Hinckley Cemeteries.

Carma is survived by her husband: Neal; sons: Larry, Delbert (Karen), Douglas (Tracy), Tony (Sondra), Kyle (Jesica), and Kevin; 19 grandchildren & 27 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son: Scott; brother: Roy; and granddaughter: Amber.
