JoyceMcDermaid2.webJoyce Annette Stanworth McDermaid , age 80, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 in Delta, Utah. She was born on September 26, 1937 in Delta, Utah to George Washington and Ethel Maxfield Stanworth. While attending Utah State University, she met George Ross McDermaid while waitressing at the Bluebird Café. They were married on September 19, 1958 in the Logan LDS Temple.  

In her youth, she was mother’s helper assisting with the cooking, washing and cleaning for the family. She was a special babysitter and was loved by those she tended. After graduating from Delta High School, she earned an Associates Degree from the College of Southern Utah in Cedar City. She transferred to Utah State and worked at the Bluebird Café and as a teacher’s aide in  Providence.  After getting married, she worked as a bank manager at American Savings in Delta, as a clerk at Losee Lumber, and as a security guard at Intermountain Power.  She loved to sew, cook, crochet, and had her favorite fishing pole for the fishing trips. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Relief Society President, Primary and Sunday School Librarian.

Joyce is survived by her husband: Ross; sons and daughter: Todd Ross McDermaid, Jeffery Lee (Nikki) McDermaid, Annette McDermaid; grandchildren: Adam, Jaycie, Stevie, MacLyn,  Mitch, Jennifer, Declay Parker; great grandchildren: Brix, Emma; brothers: Lyle Stanworth, Ward Stanworth, Howard Max Stanworth, Mike Stanworth. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Conard Stanworth, George Patten Stanworth; granddaughter: Paige McDermaid.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 18, at 11:00 am, in the Deseret-Oasis Ward LDS Chapel, 3423 West 4500 South.  Friends may call at the Deseret-Oasis Church on Sunday evening, 6:30- 8:00 pm; and Monday, 9:30-10:40 am, prior to the services. Burial will be in the Oasis Cemetery.
